Rate limits and quotas
Two independent limits, both reported on every successful response.
Two limits
A per-minute rate limit protects burst capacity and is evaluated per API key. A monthly request quota governs billing and is evaluated per subscription. Exhausting either answers 429, but with a different error code so you can react correctly.

Handling 429
A rate limit rejection carries Retry-After in seconds; wait that long and retry with jitter. A monthly quota rejection will not clear until the period resets, so upgrade the plan instead of retrying.
